Biography
Katherine Pancak is Professor In-Residence of Finance and Real Estate at the University of Connecticut at Stamford. She teaches both live and online undergraduate and graduate courses in finance and real estate, including Financial Management, Personal Finance, and Real Estate Principles. She also currently serves as the Academic Director of the Stamford Campus Business Programs.
In addition to teaching, Professor Pancak conducts research on real estate law topics and has been published in a variety of real estate journals, including Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Housing Research, and Real Estate Law Journal. She is the author of the widely used state real estate prelicensing textbook entitled “Connecticut Real Estate: Law and Practice”. She has developed numerous instructional materials for real estate educators and the real estate industry, as well as extensive material for the Connecticut Real Estate Commission, including legal interpretations of and policies on licensing law issues, as well as annual handbooks on the state licensing law.
Professor Pancak has a distinguished record of service to both the University and Connecticut real estate professional community. She serves of a wide variety of School and University committees, is currently an elected member of the University Senate, and has previously served on the Executive Committee of the University American Association of University Professors.
Professor Pancak has been honored with numerous awards from the School of Business for teaching, teaching innovation, service, and outreach. In 2008, she was named national Educator of the Year by the Real Estate Educators Association and also recognized by then Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell for her contributions to University of Connecticut and service to State of Connecticut, was presented with the Stamford Campus Faculty Recognition Award in 2009, was designated one of the Top 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders by Inman News in 2013, and in 2015 was honored by the Center for Real Estate for 25 years of distinguished service.
Professor Pancak received her undergraduate degree in Economics cum laude from Mount Holyoke College, and her law degree cum laude from Boston College Law School. Prior to joining the University faculty, she was a practicing corporate real estate attorney with the law firm of Robinson & Cole in Connecticut.
